"Soft starts" provide classes with a calm and welcoming environment for students to start their days and warm up their brains and bodies. They will have the opportunity to choose how they would like to spend 5-15 minutes of their morning. Whether they'd like to collaborate with their peers to try to solve various brain teasers, put together a puzzle, play word games, build a Lego house, or simply enjoy some quiet time reading on a comfortable carpet, they will feel empowered as they have a say in their education right off the bat. The goal is to have our students put their best foot forward towards a productive school day, teaching them that they are capable of making decisions, managing their time, and collaborating with their peers on their own terms. Soft starts are a great way to incorporate project-based learning, STEM activities, and social-emotional learning every single morning!
