These iPads will give us access to an amazing new system called the PowerTools Scaffolded Writing App. It is an interactive whiteboard into an iPad platform . Periodically, children can do their play planning right on the iPad screen, giving me a record of where they were they are what they may need scaffolding on. This app is being piloted next year in preK Tools classrooms! When teachers login to the analytics portal, they will see a graph of the child’s dynamic assessment levels over time. The children would also enter data on letter sounds and that, too, will auto-populate a graph to help you track which sounds children are writing. I would be able to have this available both at a center where children are doing scaffolded writing, and as also use as an assessment tool for children to use periodically so I can capture their progress and share it with families in hopes of building a greater understanding how to help their child.
