My student will be able to use the kitchen set in the dramatic play area to not only use social skills but will allow them to teach self- regulation, an emotional outlet, and conflict resolution. With the trauma that most of these kids have gone through, allowing them an opportunity to sort through difficult emotions will lead to a greater society when they get to adulthood. Allowing dramatic play encourages children to resolve conflict, consider alternative perspectives and recognize the various roles and responsibilities individuals have in our society. Dramatic play is a positive stepping stone toward self-regulation and helps them grow in their ability to inhibit their impulses, coordinate with others and make plans.
