In order for my students to get the most out of the gardening experiment, I plan to do a few different activities. To begin, students will make a hypothesis about which plants will grow faster and healthier - those in a traditional, soil-based environment or a non-soil hydroponic garden. We will test water levels, pH levels, and light sources. My students will learn how to keep detailed data logs, and after the growing period is completed, we'll practice effective data analysis and compare these analyses to their original hypotheses. My goal with this gardening experiment is to teach my students more about the natural world around them and also introduce them to sustainable gardening options, which are things they may not experience in their day-to-day lives.
