Building a strong classroom community is something that I always want to strive to do in my classroom. Students cannot achieve the highest level of success until they know that they are safe, loved, and wanted. By having a classroom Polaroid camera we will be able to take pictures of special events or funny moments that happen in our classroom; these are the memories that will always be a part of each of us and will connect us for years to come. After printing the pictures from the Polaroid, we will display them on a bulletin board at the front of our classroom. We will always be able to look back at the pictures and remember the lessons we have learned, science experiments we have completed, and games we have played at recess. My hope is that by displaying these pictures, my students will feel like they are a part of something bigger than just a classroom, they are a part of a family. Just like when your mom would display your school work on your refrigerator, my students are highly motivated to do their best work when they know that it will be displayed for others to see. I want to be able to allow my students to use the Polaroid camera to take pictures of work that they are proud of and display them on our "classroom fridge". My hope is that by having a way to document our special experiences and projects that we have worked hard on, we will be able to build a classroom family where we all support each other, encourage each other, love each other, and constantly cheer each other on!
