This alphabet square rug will provide the students with a comfy space to join together and learn together as a whole group. It will be one of the most used spaces in our classroom. We will use it daily for a variety of activities and learning opportunities. I believe it is important for the children to have a designated space in our room to work as a team and learn socialization skills and how to take turns when working together in a large group. This rug will also provide them a space to do "think, pair, share", students will think about a topic/question, pair up with a neighbor, and share what they have to say about it. This will help the students with presentation and socialization skills that are often bypassed in individual desks and independent work. Our class will cherish this cozy carpet when using it to do meet and greet in the mornings, read stories together, work together on the smart board, do math and literacy centers, and come together for group discussions. We can't wait to dive into our first class story and see where our adventures take us this year!
