Each year, my students come to school eager to continue to become better readers. They love to pour over their books, finding familiar words, and learning about characters and animals. They also love using their reading strategies to help them figure out unknown words, how to retell a story, and how to bring a story to life. However, many of the books in my library are in poor condition or are outdated. I would like to replace these books with new fiction and non-fiction books that are more relevant to the students in my classroom. These books would go into my students' independent book bins, where they will use these books to practice the skills and strategies I teach and help them grow as readers, as well as life long learners.
