A little more than half of what I teach is hands-on and in the science lab. The other part of it is visual learning, for example the solar system. It is hard for students to understand it since it's not hands-on. That's why I love technology because in these cases I can have them go on a virtual tour of the solar system or Mars! Another tool is virtual labs; it's like a science lab but it's online and the students have to work through it in the same way. There are many other tools that I use for online learning that give them some type of hands-on learning. I hope you will be able to help by purchasing a Chromebook for a small group of 4. I use small groups when teaching or reteaching a topic. So they will be used weekly. Thank you for taking an interest in my classroom.
