I look forward to cultivating the best and brightest writers and readers in my classroom this fall. To do this, they must feel comfortable and at home in class. A class first aid kit, copy paper, and pens are necessary for us to feel ready for the unexpected and to write in-class essays and on free-write Fridays. I am anticipating phone use to be high after it being an issue in the past. The extension cord will be a place for me to ask them to "re-charge" in class in the cool-down corner. The giant lined page and giant classroom timer will allow for me to model day after day what I expect their essays, free-writes, and class assignments to look like. This is where they'll see the time they have left to either read or write and see how to correct sentence fragments, comma splices, and any other common writing error. To make ELAR exciting, there must be a constant flow of new resources in class. This is why my requested Grammar workbook and "Choices", a Scholastic magazine subscription, in class will allow for them to read relatable and thought provoking stories, exercises, and activities. Class stamps will help me keep track of graded, submitted, and fantastic work in class. In addition to stickers, stamps will be a varying way for me to express my encouraging personality with my students!
