This novel has the potential to move my students toward a passion for reading, especially when I combine it with the appropriate documentaries, film, and works of non-fiction. As I finished the novel myself, I felt compelled to action, and I want the same for my students. Ultimately my students will be able to write a multi-paragraph argument and produce their own podcast on the injustice they see marginalized people face. When combined with The Case Against Adnan Syed and portions of the documentary When They See Us, I am hoping they will find the initiative and desire to push themselves to learn more. Please help provide them with this wonderful reading experience.
