I work in a high school that has a low graduation rate. Many of my students struggle to stay engaged in lessons, especially in the English classroom. These materials will help my students increase reading engagement and set the stage for reading higher-level texts both in and out of the classroom. Most importantly, I want to try to bring in more YA books that my students can relate to. My students are very diverse, in every way. I want them to be able to see themselves (gender, race, likes/dislikes, mental health, etc.) in at least ONE piece of literature before they graduate.
