The goal of this project is to provide my students with a learning environment of which they can take ownership. The alphabet carpet will not only add a colorful positive aspect to our classroom but will give students the opportunity to increase their letter recognition and word association with a real world connection. This carpet would be used for whole group "carpet time" in which students will learn the early foundations of literacy. Students can use the colorful squares to take ownership their learning space, and use the squares to facilitate games for community building in the classroom. These students need a comfortable place for learning to take place!
