The books requested will be used for Family Reading Nite. Parents will choose a book and read to their child. At the closing, each student will be able to keep the book to start a home library. Over time, reading practices will contribute to a student college- and career-readiness. Through family reading, students are able to learn empathy, compassion, respect and understanding. Parents will be able to give and enhance children skills by doing something as simple and enjoyable as reading. Emilie Buchwald “Children are made read on the laps of their parents, or snuggled along the side of them”, learning happens and memories are made that last a lifetime.
