I'm technically a first year teacher and I'm going into a classroom that is supplied with teaching resources, but nothing for my students to really use or organize their books. There is a small 3' x 5' rug, but it's not nearly enough for everyone. No matter what classroom management strategy you use fitting roughly twenty-four students on a small rug won't cut it. My students need that space to call their own and the books to use for that year to go along with it. They have their individual desk space for their materials and text books, but their leveled reading books will get lost or abused if not stored properly. Having their own bins and place to store their reading books will allow them to learn about respect and accountability for others, their space, and their items.
