After fourteen years in the classroom, I am taking on the role of lead teacher of our approximately five-hundred student sixth-grade class. As a lead teacher, I will have a multitude of responsibilities, one of which includes helping my students navigate their way through the highs and lows of middle school. One of the most important factors in helping my students be successful is making sure they are emotionally healthy. The sensory toys and mindfulness cards that I selected will be used when students come to me stressed or upset. The items will aid in helping the students calm down so that we can attack the issue at hand with a clear mind.
