For many students, the classroom can become an overwhelming place. Students benefit from having calming locations in learning environments. With the sensory calming corner kits, students will learn how to recognize their own emotions, and learn how to de-escalate their feelings in safe and appropriate ways, without even leaving the classroom (meaning they won’t miss classroom material either). Kits will contain a variety of sensory tools such as a stress ball, a tactile sensory ball, and a visual sensory tube. The kits will be consistent in every classroom, so that students know what to expect no matter where they go. The goal is for students to use the variety of sensory tools to independently regulate and return to the group ready to learn.
