Most of my students don't have a lot of exposure to Spanish outside of my classroom. Authentic texts help them piece together grammar, vocabulary, and culture as something real and entertaining. When kids have fun and are engaged, they learn! I have a few leveled readers for my classroom with somewhat engaging storylines, but these Scholastic magazines keep up with current trends and news in Latin culture and world events. Students get bored easily when they are learning only sets of conjugated verbs, lists of vocabulary and writing passages from textbooks. This reading resource is not only grammatical, but is current, and kids like to know what's happening now.
