The seats that I am requesting are just the beginning of my attempt to create a alternative learning and flexible seating classroom. Flexible seating allows students to easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class. Many flexible seating options stimulate students' sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Sensory input is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD. Many students with these disabilities have a hard time spending the bulk of their day seated at a desk. They need to move to stay engaged and focused.
