The "tween" years of middle school can be tough. The transition from child to teenager happens quickly and not without many bumps in the road. For middle school students, it's more important than ever before to belong to a group of peers, to "fit in." A big part of my job is to help my students find their way through the tangle of emotions and conflicting priorities they experience in the middle school years. My students have shown me over and over again, that the best way to reach them, the best way to connect with them, is to share the experience of reading together. I'm amazed at the power of a small group novel study when it comes to working with tweens.

About my class
