Each day when my students come into the class, I encourage them to sit on the carpet and read a story or look through pictures either by themselves, with a friend, or with someone who they think they could help. I am on the carpet with my kids as well, talking to them and helping them sound out words. I believe the flexible floor seats will help to continue building this legacy that I have started for many years. Students will have the opportunity to rest their back while reading and be encouraged to go back to the reading center as they finish their work. Additionally I started STEM bins last year and the kids view themselves as engineers and Entrepreneurs creating imaginable things. One of the things I know they struggled with was learning the 3-D figures. Through playing with the Magna-Tiles and the hands on manipulative, I believe I can continue to build science, math, technology and engineering as well as curiosity in my class.
