My students eat breakfast in the classroom, especially the students who have transportation needs that prevent them from arriving at school on time. Some of the supplies will go toward making the learning environment safe and clean for their classes. As a literacy teacher having a diverse classroom library that keeps student interest high is a number one concern. These books will be used during independent reading by students. Every day they have to read for 15-30 minutes in class, so the books are to add interest to this. These books reflect multiple reading levels, and many different stories that speak to the experiences my students may have faced, or may be on the road to. My class runs in rotations, students are sometimes sitting the majority of the period. For my students with learning difficulties, a comfortable chair or a fidget band allows them to stay focused and keep working, when they have to be sitting in a chair for the majority of the period. Also, being in a low income area, my students sometimes are without supplies so this project would help me stock year long needed supplies.
