Students learn best when they are in a warm and welcoming environment. I have worked hard to create a library with books for my students to read. Research shows that reading just 20 minutes a day, can help boost academic achievement. My students enjoy finding a quiet space to read and these comfortable bean bags, saucer chair, stools and lamps will help invite them to open up a good book. It will also make our classroom feel more like a home. In second grade, we encourage students to read bigger and longer books. We work on increasing stamina by creating a place in the room where they can read and learn quietly.
