I will use the 3D Printer in my intro biology classes to create cellular models of organelles, proteins, and cellular processes such as protein synthesis. In my AP and advanced biology classes, I will use it to create immune, virus, and bacterial models. I will also offer it as a resource to my students participating in the science fair so they can create additional tools or material used for their experiments. There are already many biologies related 3D designs on thingiverse.com. A 3-D printer will allow me to create multiple manipulatives students can use to understand parts of biology that is not easily accessible. This will be especially helpful for genetics, microbiology, immunology, and cellular biology. I can create models of organelles and cellular structures that students would only have the opportunity to see through pictures.
