Having a full class set of books for each novel allows students to fully engage in the story-telling process. They are able to get comfortable and read on their own or follow along as a class. Students will read in small groups, whole group, or in our special education resource center. With a book for each student, they have the opportunity to learn responsibility and respect of classroom materials. Our school uses the Common Core State Standards to guide learning and novels allow students to learn the standards in a meaningful and realistic way. Novels also lend themselves to further interest in book clubs and literature circles.
