Looking forward to the 2019-20 school year, I would like to incorporate practices of responsive literacy and guided reading into my English/Language Arts block. My third grade students will be reading lots and lots of text at their instructional levels. My goal is to expose them to as much high-interest text at their reading levels as possible! They’ll be guided through these texts and asked to answer deep questions about them. I would like to use these wobble stools at my small group instruction table. Students would be able to wiggle and wobble as they read, work, and learn together. Allowing for some extra movement will help with sparking interest and excitement. Who doesn’t want to sit in a brand-new, awesome stool that moves? This will also support students during difficult tasks. I will also be teaching students with ADHD, Autism, and other learning disabilities. These stools will help those students be successful in my inclusive classroom. Providing opportunity for movement during ELA will be beyond beneficial!
