Creating a safe learning environment this school year will begin by us creating a designated safe space for our students. We want our students to feel at home in our classroom where we share space and feel comfortable​ in our learning. Opening up the school year with a newly furnished safe space will allow that feeling for the duration of the year. It is understood that sometimes students need a space within the classroom to take a break and gather their thoughts. Students could be having a tough day and need to complete their work in the designated safe space. I find it valuable because students will still feel a sense of belonging in our classroom but be able to take their moment and continue learning.
