Students need hands-on experiences in order to fully realize a concept. My exploration class is a hands-on learning experience with the focus being on renewable energy. The introduction of renewable energy always triggers a powerful curiosity for students when they come to realize the energy that is created from the sun, wind and water. Concepts such as turbines, generators and solar panels are better understood with the introduction of models on a larger scale before students tackle their hands-on activities on a much smaller scale. These items would give them the visual they need to make learning much more concrete.
