Remember when we were in school and the teacher always made us sit still in our chairs while our desks were lined up nice and straight in rows? This was a huge distraction for me. Since we all work differently, listen differently, and learn differently, why can’t we all sit/stand differently? Research shows that students are more successful when they can focus on what they are being taught and not on how to contain their bodies to a chair attached to a piece of wood (standard school desk). I would like to purchase been bag chairs, wiggle seats, short stools, and a few pillows for those students that prefer to learn while relaxing. If I can be more flexible with how I deliver my lessons and my students can be more flexible in how they receive the information, we can have successful students that are going to love coming to school to learn.
