This project is geared to help me create a space that will engage students to learn, read, and explore their learning. Sitting at a desk for hours is fun for no one, especially a room filled with 27 growing and eager 8/9 year olds. My goal is to engage students in comfort, to allow them to explore their learning in an area that they feel accepts and suits them! I have a growing library, but as a reader myself, I struggle to read silently at a desk, I enjoy sitting on a couch, in the grass. With the area rug, I can begin setting the tone for a relaxed area of solitude. Tables with a white board surface will allow my kiddos to truly “show their thinking” without being limited by space. Overall, I hope to give my students options, to explore and find their comfort.
