Having a classroom library will serve my students by putting the Spanish language in the context of stories, allowing them to take ownership for their own learning by selecting the books that they read, and by promoting differentiation of language input to increase individual language acquisition. My goal in creating an FVR library for my students is to increase my students' levels of Spanish proficiency and to help them become life-long readers. Reading texts that we understand is one of the most natural ways for human beings to acquire language. Students that read in Spanish will experience vast quantities of input that include repetitions of vocabulary and grammar in context. Research on Second Language Acquisition has shown that reading in the target language does wonders for the acquisition and development of vocabulary, grammatical structures, and overall ability to speak and write in the target language.
