In our class we learn and work together. During circle time we have morning meetings to start our day off the right way. We read and write stories together. We have math talks. We share feelings and knowledge. We create. Having a classroom easel helps me as a teacher model specific strategies. It gives students the opportunity to come to the "board" and share what they know. They get the chance to be the teacher! In kindergarten students are learning the fundamentals of reading and writing. They are forming letters on paper and letter sounds verbally. Having a classroom easel supports all of these important and valuable skills. Students can see how to write and how to read. They can see how to draw pictures to help them solve math problems. They can do this all at a level that is comfortable for them.
