Having a wide variety of books in the classroom children are able to "travel" through texts and become exposed to different times, places, and imagined spaces. Sparking an interest in reading will greatly benefit these students to be motivated to learn how to read. Students will want to listen to engaging text with detailed pictures. Having a strong foundation of reading will help these students throughout their educational endeavors as well as throughout their life. Most of these students do not have a parent/guardian who reads to them at home, so it is important for me as their teacher to provide this opportunity for them with a multitude of books. I also stress the importance of kindness and learning about/ being respectful to others who have differences. Books are an amazing way to open up discussions about important issues while exposing children to new things that inspire them to be the best versions of themselves.
