Demanding that first graders sit in a desk all day long is impossible! By incorporating a rug for carpet time in my classroom, my students will have the opportunity to move about the room. They will have an opportunity to move to and from the carpet and have a change of scenery when sitting on the carpet. A classroom carpet will be used for morning meeting, book walks and group discussions. Imagine how amazing your day would be if you had the opportunity to share your weekend experiences first thing Monday morning, or hear what your best friend did over the weekend! Having a place to come together and share together will allow my students to expand their ability to have meaningful class discussions.
