Currently, my room has very few math manipulatives and there are virtually none for the more difficult math skills that my students will be learning over the course of the year, such as fractions and elapsed time. Although my students love math games, the only games that they really have access to are ones that I make when there is time. These manipulatives and games will allow my students to learn together through engaging activities while taking math beyond the textbook and putting it into their hands. They will be used to supplement lessons as they are taught, to reinforce learning during centers, and to keep early finishers actively engaged in math content. Of course, I also need a place to store manipulatives and games while also keeping them accessible to my students. Space in the classroom is limited so the mobile cart will allow me the storage I need and the flexibility to move it out of the way when needed.
