Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. All students need choices in order to take accountability and care about what they're learning. During independent work time, students will have the choice to move around the room and sit where they feel comfortable with the materials they need. Currently, I will have students with clipboards and bean bags to move freely to sit under their desk, lay on the floor, and/or sit at their desk. This flexible seating will give students the opportunity to become self-sufficient learners and engage with the task they are completing. I am selecting these products, the wobble stools, yoga balls, and seat disks to give students the variety of flexible seating options that will best fit their needs both at their desks, during small groups, and independent work time. In previous experiences within the classroom, I have noticed a significant change in students' motivation and accountability when they are offered these types of options. These additional options will only strengthen their growth!
