For those of you who may not be familiar with flexible seating, there are many benefits of using it in the classroom! These options allow students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, independent reading times and group work, students have the chance to choose their seats. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room. They choose different tables or sit with clip boards on the floor or on a rug in the classroom. My eight students have a wide range of learning needs and helping them express or find out how they learn best in the classroom, will help them every single day. In order to effectively teach all students, I want to be able to give them as many choices as possible! Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. I appreciate any help you can give to enhance student learning in our class!
