I have carefully thought about what the students should have in the classroom (aside from the basics). These students deserve to have a wonderful classroom, and your support will ensure they have that. Thank you! I will use the Time magazine subscription to discuss current events with the students. In small reading groups, we will read the articles and engage in rich discussions. Then students will respond to a specific article in their writing journals. I will use the dry erase boards in math. During whole/small group activities, students will individually complete problems. Then they will show me their work and answers. I will be able to quickly assess their answers and determine which students need assistance. Each student will have a book bin, in which they will store books from the classroom library. I want students to have full book bins with titles they enjoy reading. The seating will be used during small groups in Language Arts and Math. When I student taught in 4th and 1st grades, both teachers had this type of stool seating. The students enjoyed it, and I would also like to use it in my room. The document camera will allow all students to read and follow along with me. I will be able to place a book, magazine, or worksheet under the document camera. As I read and highlight, students can listen, read, and highlight key information. The blank journals will be used in Science. Students will use the journals to draw an experiment or write questions and observations as we complete hands-on activities. They will be able to reference their drawings and notes as they complete projects and prepare for assessments. Thank you, again, for allowing me to provide my future students with an incredible learning environment.
