Interactive Student Notebooks help students stay organized, refer back to their worksheets, resources, notes and materials when reviewing for a writing assignment, group project or exam. They allow all student materials to be glued into one place so that materials aren't easily misplaced. I chose literature that features a protagonist that comes from a socioeconomically challenging background to help students relate to the characters, plot and literary devices on a more personal level which increases reading comprehension and student buy-in. Implementing a DVD player in the classroom allows students to gain visual understanding of the topics covered in class. The yoga mats would allow for students in reading and writing lab to have varied learning environments. My goal is to take students out to our beautiful school lawn for group and independent reading time to give them fresh air and a chance to get out of the classroom without getting wet from the lawn.
