Many of the items in my cart are accommodations that will help students access the curriculum, such as the reading window, pencil grippers, dry erase slips, dry erase boards, and markers. My students are diverse learners, and they require extra support to express themselves in writing and annotate their written form. The dry erase forms make it easier for students to manipulate their text without the distraction of eraser marks or damaging the paper. The dry-erase board makes quick responses easier for students to write their answers and show the teacher. The pencil grippers support many of my students' occupational therapy goals in writing more legibly. Many of my students are from low-income homes and do not often have enough to eat. The snacks for students hungry may not get their next meal until they return to school. Lastly, the dual-screen, printer, and laptop stand, support me as a hybrid teacher, make extra printed copies, talk to two sets of kids, and constantly move my neck from eye level to an uncomfortable level for me.
