These materials will help keep my students engaged and willing to read. Graphic novels are an amazing gateway to regular novels. Even if they are just looking at the pictures, they are engaging with the story. Many of my fifth graders are on a lower reading level and do not want to be seen with "baby books". This will at least place a book in their hands and give them the initiative to want to read. I just want more of my students reading and these mainly want books they seem to like and I don't have very many of them.
