Instead of a desk for every activity, a classroom rug offers my scholars an alternative spot in the room to explore their thinking. Making sure students are comfortable is an important part of the learning process. One of my favorite examples set in a pre-internship, was my host teacher giving students the opportunity to sit on the classroom rug for the lesson. I would love to recreate this experience for my own student in a math lesson. The dice, chip counters, flashlights, and game buzzers in this project will help expand thinking and provide hands on experiences. One of my student's favorite review games before a math test is Jeopardy. I plan on using the game buzzers to have students push once they have their answer and create a visual for other students. Speaking of exploring, travel is our school theme for next year. I would love for my students to have an adventurous experience in the classroom as well. My hope is that the posters, post cards, and banners will expose and introduce my students to places they have never seen.
