This project is to empower my students to be able to choose for themselves when they need to take a break and breathe. My students will be given instruction on how to use the Quiet-Time cube, and what it will be used for. It will be up to my students to determine when they feel that they need to breathe to handle the emotions that they may be feeling. In the Quiet-Time cube, there will be different books on emotions and how to deal with them, along with soft pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals. Although these children are in third grade, they will still have days where it's hard for them to handle their emotions, and as an educator I want to be prepared for this and teach the students how to deal with their emotions. This will not only help them in the classroom setting, but it will also be helpful as they grow up. As an adult, I still have days where it's a hard task for me as well. I would love to teach the students how to be able to handle their emotions and get through it. One of my goals for my students is for them to be able to recognize when they are having a hard time, and make the conscious choice to take a break. This will be empowering for students to make their own choices, while also preventing the emotions of the student from getting to the point where it would be harder to handle.
