As a Math teacher, one of the biggest challenges I face is motivating students to show their work and explain their thinking. With this project, students will be able to have access to a resource that allows them to show their work and express their thinking in a much more engaging format than simply using pencil and paper. My students have loved to use Expo markers and solve problems on their desks; however, this method has proven to be very expensive and requires a large amount of time spent cleaning up. With these digital writing tablets, my students will be able to feel the same increased engagement without the negatives of a recurring cost to replenish expo markers and erasers or spending valuable learning time cleaning off desks. This project would help me encourage students to think critically about their answers and to use their work to justify their reasoning.
