Did you ever find yourself wishing there was a way to hook into reading in a real, fun, and accessible way? Research shows that graphic novels are highly engaging, fun, & popular. What's more, there is evidence that high quality graphic novels can foster the growth of reading skills and strategies across students of all "levels". For students who read reluctantly or with difficulty, graphic novels provide assistance an opportunity for our children to read the same texts as those who do not experience reading difficulty. The visuals assist our students with envisioning and making predictions about events to come. They also provide context for tricky vocabulary words. Graphic novels also provide our students with an accessible way to think deeply about theme, author's craft, plot, and many other reading skills and strategies.
