I am a new school counselor, working on building a mental-health library for my students! I will primarily work with Kindergarten through 5th graders, which is a GREAT age for supplemental learning through reading! In my internship I used several of these books (borrowed from my mentor at the time) and saw success with this age group. I believe that the books in this list will help my students work through challenges and build skills to help them become the best they can be. Topics that I will be focusing on this year include building resiliency, learning social skills, behavior management, emotional regulation, anger, anxiety, and developing coping skills for kids dealing with divorce, incarcerated parents, grief/loss, and much more.
