My students are amazing and work incredibly hard, however at times their sensory needs can interfere with their ability to focus, attend, and be safe. Sometimes these sensory needs manifest themselves as stereotypic behaviors, such as vocalizations, hand flapping, or body rocking, while other times they can manifest themselves as more challenging behaviors, such as tantrum or noncompliance. Almost everyone of my students require some form of sensory feedback and my goal is to find new and reinforcing ways to meet these needs. I work closely with my OT and PT to create sensory diets that match the exact needs of each of my students and we truly feel that this sensory chair will be a great tool for my room.
