I started this year trying a few different options of flexible seating for my kids. I had picked up some things from yard sales and my son moving out left a bean bag or two. I also tried to keep a space for my kids to cool down and practice the yoga I had introduced to them this year. One of my students' parents donated a large rug and small pillows. I also have a "coffee/hot chocolate club" in my classroom each morning. Kids can come in and purchase a cup before school, eat their breakfast in my room and just "hang out" and play games or just visit. So I have a variety of students from young to old each day. I love creating a unique environment for each of my students and any person who comes into my community! The flexible seating is something I have researched and it has shown a dramatic impact on the learning environment and the desire for the kids to come to school. I want my kids to “want” to come each day because they don’t know what fun things I have planned for them!
