What we are noticing in our schools when students are transitioning from one class to another, they are seeking input into their bodies. They are tip toeing on the tiles, running, jumping, touching the walls or peers. They need an outlet to relieve and regulate their bodies. The Pyramid of Learning shows us that it is not possible for students to reach the level of academic learning if they do not first have the foundation of understanding and regulation of their sensory motor system. We are looking for a way to give them that provides sensory input to their body and provide movement opportunity! What I am requesting is funds in order to purchase movement tools such as vinyl pathway materials, weighted items, and transition fidgets so that we can design and cut out pieces to make a creative motor pathways as well as weighted tools and supplies. With this motor pathway and sensory heavy input, our students will get their sensory motor needs met and be ready to learn! Please help me in providing the materials necessary for us to design and make this motor pathway and sensory tools a reality. This movement and input will allow their bodies an opportunity to be more calm as well as organized in order to learn and complete their school activities. Doing physical work allows positive brain chemistry to calm the nervous system and help organize emotions. These sensory input and movement opportunities for students will allow them to get their wiggles and giggles out and receive the calming input that they need in order to out in an appropriate manner as to not affect other peer’s focus in the classroom or as they transition in the hallway. Thank you for considering donating!
