Our class consists of 22 energetic second graders who love to learn, but have a lot of trouble sitting still. One strategy that I have used in maintaining their focus, attention and positive behavior is letting them choose where they would like to sit in the room for independent and partner work. The addition of the Lakeshore furniture that I ordered will provide students with a comfortable, home-like atmosphere where they can relax and enjoy reading and writing as well as exploring other content areas in small groups. I have found that giving the students choice to work in comfortable areas helps them develop ownership in their learning and ultimately achieve learning goals. I strongly believe that this purchase will contribute to the success of my students.
