Children and adults all over the world deal with different social and emotional needs. As the demands of student performance increase in and out of school, so does the need for us to deal with the social and emotional needs of our students. Some of the specific SE needs I have seen in my classroom is fear of making mistakes, fear of taking risks, being seen or feeling different, and perfectionism.
My goal is to use bibliotherapy, a creative arts/reading therapy, to help students with the social and emotional needs that they are facing.
My research for my masters program deals with gifted students SE needs, but my heart goes beyond that. I would love to use literature, guided reading, and storytelling to help increase self awareness of my students.
These books would help touch on each of the social and emotional needs my students face, and are leveled around 2nd-4th grade, the level range of my students. I would love your support as I take on this new adventure!
